Family Support Council

The Family Support Council is at the heart of Community Bridges and its mission. The Council is

... a forum where families share information and support

... a voice for change and inclusion

... a source of encouragement and support

... a resource of talent, experience and perspective

... a community of people who care about one another

The Family Support Council works in partnership with Community Bridges to provide knowledge, support, and advocacy so families can create new options and make informed choices on behalf of family members with disabilities.  The Council works to ensure that all individuals with disabilities are valued as contributing members of the community.

The Family Support Council:

  • Provides a voice for people with a family member with a disability throughout the region;
  • Develops an annual plan and budget utilizing various subcommittees to further the goals of the Council;
  • Advises the Community Bridges Board of Directors on matters affecting families;
  • Advises the Community Bridges Family Support staff in the planning and coordination of events, activities, and workshops;
  • Shares information and provides guidance regarding the Family Support Services provided to families throughout the county;
  • Remains current, and shares perspectives, on the work of other agencies, the State of NH Division on Developmental Disabilities, and national trends.
