(Concord, New Hampshire) – Community Bridges, an agency that advances the integration, growth and interdependence of people with disabilities within their home communities, announced today that they have received the 2012 Dunfey Award for excellence in nonprofit management from The Corporate Fund.

The Corporate Fund is comprised of many of New Hampshire’s most generous corporations, which pool a portion of their charitable dollars to focus entirely on improving the overall management and effectiveness of the state’s non-profit organizations.

The Dunfey Award is presented annually to nonprofit organizations that demonstrate outstanding management skill and talent in a number of key areas including: program delivery and impact; vision and strategy; governance and leadership; strategic relationships; funding and resource development; and internal operations and management. Community Bridges was evaluated across many areas including:

  •  A strong board of directors that has employed best practices in nonprofit governance for many years.
  • A talented and stable leadership team who bring skill, creativity and a passion for excellence to their work.
  • Management systems that enable the organization to track program outcomes, ensure financial transparency and accountability, and maximize cost-effectiveness and productivity.

“Achieving our mission takes more than good intentions and big hearts,” said Roy Gerstenberger, executive director of Community Bridges. “It requires strong leadership, extraordinary staff and effective management practices – all of which I’m proud to say we have here at Community Bridges. It’s especially significant to us to be recognized for our efforts right now, in a time of great change in our state when it’s more important than ever for us to leverage our strong resources and respond with innovation and creativity.”
