Val has led her NH START program to achieve program certification this year, which was an amazing accomplishment. She creates a work environment that is supportive, encouraging and rigorous. Val is an active member of the national network, providing resources and actively engaging in the START program directors practice group, the emergency management committee and other national forums. She initiated the development of a PERMA plan for her team, which is also used with service users and their teams. This has shifted the focus from what has to get done to doing work that is meaningful and puts us all in flow. Her team respects and appreciates Val and her leadership.
Michael Blau has shown exemplary leadership skills in keeping the NH START Therapeutic Resource Center open and achieving certification during a worldwide pandemic. Michael has modelled bravery, perseverance, and hope in the face of great adversity - continuing to provide a positive and safe environment for our guest, and for staff as well. Michael has demonstrated a commitment to well-being of individuals we serve, advocating for continued safe admission to the Center, working closely with hospitals, area agencies and providers to continue to offer the high quality services the resource center is known for while maintaining a high degree of safety. Michael's ability to strength-spot has been critical in maintaining morale during this year, marked by change, anxiety and unrest. Michael is kind in his interactions with guests and staff and expresses his gratitude for people through word and action.
