Career Development Program

Our Career Development Program is inclusion-oriented. It aims to raise community awareness of the potential contributions that the people we support offer to the workforce and encourage individuals with disabilities to seek employment. Everyone deserves to feel valued, so we identify possible employment opportunities and implement creative strategies that allow individuals with disabilities to showcase their natural talents, enthusiasm, and spirit. Some of these innovative solutions include internships, on-the-job training, and collaboration with Vocational Rehabilitation.
If you or your loved one is interested in learning transferable job skills in a collaborative environment, visit our Project SEARCH Page.
Our Career Development services include:
- Job shadowing
- Informational interviewing support
- On-site work observations
- Labor market surveys
- Education on various job functions and skills
- Advocacy for expanding, altering, or adapting job roles for employees
A job provides everyone with purpose, belonging, and established goals. Employment empowers individuals, fostering a sense of self-worth and personal accomplishment. Whether paid or voluntary, work offers benefits beyond financial compensation, such as:
- An opportunity to express natural talents and abilities
- A chance to enhance social skills
- A way to construct a personal identity
- An opportunity to meet new people
- A pathway for acquiring new skills
A Career Development specialist collaborates with employers to identify, modify, and create jobs for participants in our program. Local and national businesses recognize the value of including individuals with disabilities and understand how this contributes to a strong, diverse community.
